Ever since our establishment in 1805, we’ve devoted to brewing sake for more than 200 years.
Our signature sake brand is MIYOSAKAE.
The name is quoted from a poem in the Man-yo shu—the oldest anthology of Japanese poetry—composed by Otomo no Yakamochi. It describes the prosperous reign of the emperor symbolized in the beautiful golden flowers blooming in eastern mount Michinoku.
Although MIYOSAKAE has been loved by many for years as Shiga’s premium sake for its elegant and gentle taste, we introduced a new brand –KITAJIMA in 2002.
Kitajima is based on concepts:
「Kimoto」「Fully Fermentation」「Maturing」 and「Warming」
“Best marriage” which is our goal and to be enjoyed with a variety of meals.
Kimoto—it is referred to as the ‘origin of sake’ and is a product of unsparing effort and time, made with lactic acid naturally living in the brewery.
Experience and knowledge what we learned from Kimoto gives our whole sake its many faces of a dry yet mellow or sweet entry and crisp finish.
